The Remington 597 rifle is similar to the Ruger 10/22. It is a semi-automatic .22 rifle. The 597 is available in .22 LR, .22WMR, and .17HMR. The stock inletting does not change for any of the different calibers, so there is no need to specify your caliber in your order. Remington uses a standard platform for the receiver.
At the top of the inletting, the distance between the take down screws is 5 7/16". There is a notch on the right side of the stock for the clip release button. It is a quick way to verify that it is a 597 stock.
If you are changing from a synthetic stock to one of our laminate stocks, you will need to purchase two (2) stock inserts, which fit into the "D" shaped cut-outs on the bottom side of the stock. These inlets are available directly from Remington. To date, the inserts are not on their website, but if you call their customer service line and give them the below part numbers, you'll be able to order them.
